Items & inventory

Go to Inventory → Add item and fill in a name, quantity, unit, category, and location. SKU and description are optional. Every item has a status — Available, Lent, Broken, or Maintenance — that updates automatically as you lend, return, or flag it.

Use Inventory → Import CSV for existing spreadsheets. The importer expects columns for name, quantity, unit, category, and location, and will create categories/locations that don’t already exist.

Locations are hierarchical:

  • Site — a building or room.
  • Shelf — a shelf or area inside a site.
  • Box — a container that can sit on a shelf, useful for grouping items that get lent out together (see box lending).

Every stock change — receiving new stock, taking items out, adjusting counts, or moving items between locations — is logged as a movement with a timestamp and the person who made it. You can see an item’s full history on its detail page, or browse everything under Movements.

Set a minimum quantity on any item to get a low-stock warning on the dashboard and in the inventory list once stock drops to or below that threshold.

Categories are a flat list you can filter and report by — manage them under Categories.
